Services The Port of Frederikshavn is a versatile, modern port, including ferry port, traffic port, fishing port and a complex maritime service-industry gathered around the repair-yard, 4 docks and the numerous slipways in the port. The Ferry port Frederikshavn is the most important and the largest ferry-port connecting Continental Europe with the Scandinavian Peninsula, and a high frequency of ferry-departures is consequently maintained (up to 15 departures /day ) to the major Swedish and Norwegian entry ports, carrying annually 2½ million passengeres plus ½ million passenger cars plus 3 million tons of produce Furthermore the island of Læsø (Laesoe) is being services by ferry, with up to 7 daily departures. Apart from the berths utilized by these services, the port has a number of other ferry-berths, incorporating ramps for handling rolling stock. The Traffic port Loading and discharging of general cargo, crushed stone, gravel and sand, Oil, Chemicals, project-cargo as well as recycling materials and heavylifts, is the basis for the turnover of the traffic port, where the activities never ceases – 365days a year. The throughput of the traffic port is in a very positive development with increasing tonnage, why the port facilities are being continuously improved to match the requirements of the ports customers. The port authorities has extensive land-areas at their disposal for the further development of the port facilities. The Fishing Port The continous reduction of fishing quotas over the latter years, the phasing out of fishing boats and the resulting concentration of the fishing industry has resulted in a drastic reduction of the Frederikshavn-based fleet of fishing-boats, and the majority og the catches are being landed at other ports. Frederikshavn, however still has a number of fishing-boats registered, and an active Fish Auction. Maritime service industry With roots in the towns long shipbuilding tradition, encompassing both shipyards and propulsion-manufacture, Frederikshavn has a vast experience in all aspects of servicing the maritime industry. Thru this, and the logistics support-industry required for handling in excess of 6000 yearly calls at the port, Frederikshavn has developed a maritime service industry capable of meeting all requirements of the international shipping industry. To offer this complete range of services to the international shipping community the ”Maritime Network Frederikshavn” has been created.
