Through the last few years, the Port of Frederikshavn has given paid intense attention to creating alternative activities to the ferry service. Among these alternatives, the bulk cargo activity has by far proved the most successful.

The activities comprises discharge of various building and road construction materials such as crushed stone, gravel and sand, as well as export of recycling materials.

Since the year 2000, this bulk cargo segment has shown a total increase of no less than 75%, making the total amount of bulk cargo over the harbour quays exceed 233,000 tonnes in 2005.
