Pilotage
The use of a pilot is not compulsory in the Port of Frederikshavn.
Pilot embarkations points are marked on the nautical charts.
The pilot is authorized to assist ships calling at the port, and to supply the necessary information about local conditions.
We strongly recommend that ships, whose captain does not know the local conditions, either use a pilot, or seek information with the port authorities before arrival or departure. In particular we point out that easterly winds may cause up to 0.8 metres low water; in such weather conditions it is of great importance to use a pilot or to seek information by the port authorities about the present conditions. Enquiries can be made either by calling the port authorities on VHF channel 16, or by calling “Lyngby Radio”.
